Labour for a Green New Deal call a Worker-Climate Conference

From Labour for a Green New Deal:

COME TOGETHER WITH YOUR COLLEAGUES FROM ACROSS THE LABOUR MOVEMENT TO SET OUT A PLAN FOR JUST A TRANSITION ACROSS INDUSTRIES, TO DEVELOP YOUR DEMANDS, AND TO BUILD A NETWORK OF CLIMATE ORGANISING WITHIN AND BETWEEN TRADE UNIONS.

The conference will take place in Sheffield. Lunch will be provided for both days. Sessions will run from 11am to 6pm on Saturday 22nd October and 9.30am to 2pm on Sunday 23rd October.

Sessions will include:

Propositional worker-climate demands in the 21st century: Exploring key propositional demands which should be on a future cross-union climate bargaining agenda.

Evaluation of worker-climate organising in 2020/21: A chance to share and reflect upon participants’ organising in the last two years.

Just transition: Covering issues within specific sectors, public, private, and high-carbon industry, and how to deliver a just transition for workers while decarbonising the economy.

Local organising: Discussion of local worker-climate organising and working constructively with local unions and other climate groups.

Models of organising in UK unions: Considering the various models of organising in UK unions and the conditions in which they can be effective.
