After the revolution- will more growth be a must?

A festive treat for all our readers…

This fascinating article by Red Green Labour supporter Sean Thompson dates way back to 1977 when it first appeared in the magazine Socialist Voice.

It was a response to an article in a previous issue by John Anthony, which we do not yet have a copy of.

This must be amongst the earliest pieces from a socialist left perspective which criticises the idea that simple economic growth, under workers control, and an ever greater accumulation of material goods, will solve all our problems.

It builds on arguments which had developing in SERA and the early ecosocialist movement, some of which you can also find in our resources section.

You can download Sean’s article here- it is short, just a single page: Will more growth be a must?

Or read it as part of the original magazine here: Socialist Voice no5 June 1977
